Zune Problems     E-Mail This Post/Page   Print This Post/Page

Go back to when Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876 and you will surely find that he had the exact same problem that Microsoft has had with its Zune right now, working out the kinks in an electronic gadgets.  The difference with the first few editions of the telephone and the first edition of the Microsoft Zune is simple, a major corporation trying to get a cool new gadget out to an impatient buying public.  Like all electronics manufacturers, Microsoft probably released the Zune before it was completely ready for the buying public, but to their credit, they have been on top of all related problems to the Zune from the first minute.  Here are a few from the horse’s mouth:

  1. Many Zune owners are having issues with the Zune when they first purchase the product in getting the software to respond when first attempting to access it.  In many instances the software will appear to be working while it is actually not doing anything and won’t be doing anything until a few reboots are performed.  There is no definitive answer to this problem from Microsoft at the moment, but many have overcome this issue by restarting their Zune and computer a few times.
  2. Some Zune owners are excited about the prospects of syncing the Zune with their Xbox 360 to access the contents of their Zune through the video game console.  While this is eventually possible, the initial venture into this process will take a while and seems to only be a problem with the initial startup.
  3. Those who have purchased the Zune and tried out the Zune Marketplace have had some initial problems with purchasing songs or syncing them to the Zune itself.  Sometimes the Zune Marketplace will actually let the consumer purchase a song over and over without letting them know that they have already purchased or downloaded that song.  This could cost you time and money, so be aware until this kink is straightened out.
  4. Another major issue with the Zune Marketplace is those who are purchasing subscriptions only to not be able to access the songs within the software right away.  It can be frustrating to spend money on something and not be able to use it right away, so be aware that your Zune may be without tunes for a little bit right away.
  5. For those that are looking to purchase a Zune with the idea of downloading tunes while you work on the same computer you should be aware of this problem, you can’t close the Zune software while in the process of downloading.  This can be very frustrating, but if you are just planning on purchasing and downloading, then syncing while at work or while you sleep, you will be just fine.
  6. If you and a friend just purchased a Zune and wanted to try to send from Zune to Zune you should know that there have been kinks to this process initially.  Apparently the problem is knowing if you have “send” rights to the track, meaning, did you purchase it or not.
